I love asking brides what makes their relationship special/different/unique and as you can imagine I’ve gotten quite the range of answers over the years. When it was time to get the scoop on Lesley and Brandon’s unique qualities, Lesley responded with, “We’re an interracial couple — or as I like to call us — a swirl couple. 🙂 I think that makes us unique and I think we’re both better people for it”. I couldn’t agree more with Lesley and loved capturing these two together at White Rock Lake for their engagement!

Now Lesley and Brandon’s story is riddled with last minute changes that ultimately lead to a life changing moment! It was Brandon’s 30th birthday weekend so naturally they had to celebrate BIG! But Lesley and Brandon had to cancel their original plan for Cancun on account of Covid (a position I’m sure many of you can relate with in this covid season). They decided to do a complete 180 and head up to broken bow, Oklahoma to the most perfect and quaint cabin this side of the Mississippi (or at least that’s the image I had when hearing the story” Some might not feel the same love towards the next detail of this quaint cabin. You see the cabin they stayed in had NO Tv or internet, half of me loves the idea and the other half of me isn’t completely sold (just being honest with ya’ll). Back to Lesley and Brandon in their picturesque Oklahoma cabin they spent their first day riding a jet ski around the lake and then went for a hike in the Oklahoma State Park. As they reached the top there was a gorgeous waterfall waiting them. Lesley explained that she did what any of us would do and pull out her phone to document. Mesmerized by the waterfall Brandon had to tap on Lesley’s shoulder to get her attention. As she turned around she gasped as Brandon got on one knee. In Lesley’s words, “ I was genuinely shocked and kept asking him what he was doing (LOL). Eventually, I managed to get out a “yes”. It was just the two of us and it was absolutely perfect”. What I love about this story is the way these two made the best of things amidst sudden changes and unforeseen circumstances. Honestly that’s a lot like marriage which makes me just that much more confident in Lesley and Brandon’s future marriage!
