Darrin and Cerita met on a popular dating site 4 years ago on New Year’s Day. She actually slid into his DMs, and he was the first and only guy she made an effort with on the app. One day, she grabbed her phone, started looking at profiles, and came across a profile pic that stopped her dead in my tracks. This man had on a white tank top, African beads and a khaki Polo baseball cap, and a mean 5 o’clock shadow. She threw caution to the wind and sent him a message – “I’d be remised if I’d passed your profile and didn’t say hello.” She admits to being a little corny, but hey, it got her a response. That was a Friday. By the following Thursday they went on their first date, and the rest is history!

Their story is one that still amazes them both. They both moved to Dallas 9 years ago, roughly 8 months apart. Cerita’s from San Diego and Darrin’s from St. Louis. The two met at one of the most trying times of his life. They experienced many trials during the first couple of years, but one thing they knew for sure was God makes no mistakes. Through it all, they hold tightly to their motto “Loyalty over Royalty” and even got matching tattoos saying the same!
