Let me start by saying, Kolby and Meredith could be picked up and dropped straight into any romantic movie and no one would blink an eye. Meredith has this wonderful way of carrying herself that reminds you of Audrey Hepburn. But make no mistake Meredith’s elegance isn’t the kind that intimidates but rather it invites others in and makes them feel at ease. Now Kolby is this unexpected blend of a lion and a golden retriever with equal parts strength to fun energy. (You are probably thinking, “She’s exaggerating for the sake of this blog post, but I can assure you there is no exaggeration, these two are a dream).
Their engagement required a team effort but was a blast for everyone involved. Our employee, Morgan, was one of the individuals who had the wonderful opportunity to be a part of it. It was the end of October when Texas weather becomes bearable. Morgan explains that their friend group loves both fashion and fall so it wasn’t surprising when she messaged in their group chat “Girls we have to go to the arboretum for a fall photoshoot, my instagram is in dire need of an update.” See these friends met regularly so it made it all the more normal for them to come together and do something. So they got all dressed up and made their way to the Dallas Arboretum.
The most critical part was getting Meredith to the right part of the arboretum without making it seem suspicious. So the girls stopped here and there for some photos because it was a photoshoot day after all. But what they didn’t realize was that sweet Kolby out of both excitement and nerves had been waiting at the spot since 10 am (The girls weren’t planning on getting there until 11:30am). So Kolby, cold, and nervous sat at the spot waiting for the group to round the corner at any moment (talk about suspense). Meredith being unaware would stop and point at places saying, oh let’s stop here, or let’s take photos there, all while the girls were trying to casually beeline to Kolby. Eventually they made it and as they come up on the spot she just pauses, looks, pauses again and says “wait.. what?.. why is he here?” Then tears started to well up in her eyes as she realized, it’s happening, it’s that day.
The most unique part of this whole engagement is the finalization of a long time bet this couple had. Months before Kolby realized that Meredith had never shotgun anything, and he was in utter disbelief. Meredith was quick on her feet and told Kolby it would take a proposal before she would shotgun anything. Well wouldn’t you know it, on a rock next two the couple was two Pepsi cans patiently waiting to be shotgunned. October 30, 2020 is now a notable date for two reasons, 1. the day these two got engaged AND 2. the day Meredith Shotgunned her first Pepsi.
